Word Press Weekly Photo Challenge: Landscape

Landscape Photography is a form of Photography I love to indulge in. I love to remove myself occasionally from the hustle and bustle of city life to go bush.

I hope you enjoy these, some of my favorite landscape shots. All of these I took with a HP Compact camera in country NSW. No extreme editing done, the countryside really is this beautiful.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Gone, But Not Forgotten

I have used some previously taken photographs for this challenge. Each year, on April 25, we in Australia, and I think also in New Zealand remember those soldiers who have died protecting our freedom. Anzac Day in Sydney is commemorated firstly by a Dawn Service, and later by a parade through the streets of Sydney by any service people past or presently serving, or relatives who survive those who fought.

These photos were taken at Dawn Service this year. The Men and Women who have served us may be Gone, But Not Forgotten

Weekly Photo Challenge: Sign

Hi, I was in Windsor NSW Australia yesterday and came across these signs.IMG_0287 IMG_0290

I love the name of the oval, and think its so kind of the church to welcome me to their graveyard, but I didn’t take up the offer to stay at this time.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Endurance

cockatoo island 125 cockatoo island 145 cockatoo island 156 cockatoo island 160

These pictures are taken on Cockatoo Island in Sydney. Cockatoo Island was a place used as a convict farm and workyard in the early days of the colony. It went on to be used in the first and second world wars as a dry dock and ship yard. It was then used by private enterprise for ship building too.

These days it is a tourist destination. All the buildings have been left AS IS. with no restoration, but maintenance prevents further deterioration. There are a few restaurants and cafes around and a large camping area but largely it remains as it was left after WWII.
