If you could hire someone to help you, would it be with cleaning, cooking, or yard work?

I have before hired guys to help in the garden as I am just not capable anymore. Nowadays though, I am not too capable with the housework either. So if I could hire a live in guy to do both gardening and housework it would be awesome. I enjoy cooking though, so it would be a trade-off. He cleans and gardens and I fill him with good food.

What makes you laugh the most?

Intelligent wit. The type you find on British comedies or aussie humour  like comedians Adam Hill or Graham Norton.

My latest dad joke: Why don’t Whales have balls? Because they can’t dance.

What was your favorite food when you were a child?

When I went to visit my grandfather, he would make a big pot of Sago pudding, just for me and him. Much to the disgust of my mother, we would not even use bowls but eat it straight from the pot. It was a special time that he and I shared. None of my other brothers liked it, just me, and he never failed to have some waiting when he knew we were going to arrive.

List at least five favorite flowers or plants.

Lagerstroemia Indica. Commonly called Crepe Myrtle

Wysteria grandiflora: your common Wisteria

Buddleia davidii: I think its sometimes called Butterfly bush

Tibouchina Alstonville: sometimes called Lasiandra

Brunsfelsia latifolia: yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Now I realise that all of these plants have purple flowers. How odd as I don’t necessarily like purple elsewhere.

Others I would include are Jacaranda (also purple), fuchsia, freesia, and frangipani. Some fuchsias and freesias are purple but frangipani is white, or yellow, or sometimes pink. I prefer the white.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for my time spent at The Big Issue, last week, and this week I am looking forward to finishing a couple of essays I am working on.

Share Your World 2016: Week # 13

Are you left or right-handed?

Against my early teacher’s wishes, I continued to be dominant with my left hand. At least insofar as writing is concerned. In Cricket or baseball, I pitch or bowl with my left hand but bat right handed. I play golf right handed. I paint with either or both hands. I kick a ball equally bad with either foot.

If you had only one TV, would you prefer the TV in the living room or another room?

I basically live in one room, this is my bedroom and my study which also houses my TV. I share the rest of the house, although neither of us use the lounge room at all. I have a TV on my phone wherever I am anyway. Regardless, I hardly ever watch TV. I prefer to study or read books. I guess the short answer to the question is that I would like it to be in another room, where I can access it if I want to veg out, but away from my study area so not to be distracting.

Have you ever participated in a distance walking, swimming, running, or biking event? Tell your story.

An event know. In my younger days I used to Bush walk in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. Those days are long gone. My legs are no longer capable of walking short distances let alone long.

Complete this sentence: Love is…

Extremely beautiful when shared by two people. Love is patient. Love is kind (ICor10) Love is selfless.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for The Big Issue for allowing me to volunteer my time to assist in the running of the mag. I am grateful that  Iwas able to meet so many wonderful people who sell The Big Issue Magazine. Fot more information…http://www.thebigissue.org.au/

I am looking forward to getting back to Uni this week after a week break, and to be going on an Art Gallery tour with my literature class on Monday.

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2016 WEEK 9, 10 11 &12

Have you done something you truly want to do today?

Yes, I managed to finish an assignment at Uni that has really been getting on my nerves. I submitted it early, so I am happy with that.

What can you help the world with?

I have worked out a way to assist a nation which has been devastated over the last 100 years or so by nations leaching out its only asset. The plan I have would ease unemployment, lower the crime rate and make the nation less dependent on outsiders for assistance, making it autonomous. I can’t say too much about it as it is in it’s early stages of planning. I have had some very positive feedback from some leaders in my country who have said that once I put together the presentation, they will support it and try to make it a reality.

If life was ‘just a bowl of cherries’… which fruit other than a cherry would you be..?

I want to say a peach, furry on the outside, but soft and juicy on the inside. Although peaches have a very hard stone in the middle, and my heart is anything but hardened.

Quotes List: At least three of your favorite quotes?

“Every saint has a past, every sinner a future” Oscar Wilde

“The life of the individual has meaning only insofar as it aids in making the life of every living thing nobler and more beautiful.” Albert Einstein

The earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greed.” Mahatma Ghandi

What would you ask for if a genie granted you three wishes?

No more tears in the world

No more fear in the world

To hear children laugh with joy.

What experiences are most meaningful to you?

Ones where I can do good to others

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An Airforce pilot

Complete this sentence:  The best day of my life was….

my first graduation.

How many siblings do you have? What’s your birth order?

I have 3 brothers. I am the second oldest.

Wanting something to quench your thirst, what would you drink?

Bitters, Lime and Lemon squash.

What made you feel good this past week?

Being affirmed by a mentor at Uni

When you’re alone at home, do you wear shoes, socks, slippers, or go barefoot?

always barefoot.

Would you rather live where it is always hot or always cold?

If it is in extremes, I would prefer heat, I cant handle being cold. Never take me to the snow.

In a car would you rather drive or be a passenger?

I love to be in control, so always the driver.

When you lose electricity in a storm, do you light the candles or turn on the flashlight? How many of each do you own?

Our house is full of candles. We don’t need a blackout to light them all.

List at least five of your favorite types of animals?  (any animal to domestic to wild to marine life)

My cat (not many others)

I am grateful for our new choir director. She is awesome. I am looking forward to sharing some time with my man this weekend, and I am looking forward to my Birthday on Tuesday,

What household chore do you absolutely hate doing?

I don’hills-hoist-washing-line-with-laundry-drying-in-australian-backyard-BJR0X4t know a household chore that I actually enjoy. I think at the moment the one I hate the most would be washing. Our Laundry is under the house since the land on which our house sits slopes down at the back. I need to descent a staircase of 10 narrow steps to get down to it and into the back yard. My legs do not like steps at all.

What was the last URL that you bookmarked?

The Big Issue is a magazine which aims to help the marginalised including homeless and mentally ill. They write stories that are not about celebrities and who is sleeping with who, but rather social justice issues, mental health, living on the streets, and current affairs. I am looking at volunteering some time as a writer or photographer because I came from this background myself. I was almost homeless and still suffer from mental illness, but at the moment have my life together, having a house, a partner and education… I have a future whereas in the past I couldn’t see one.

Close your eyes. Listen to your body. What part of your body is seeking attention? What is it telling you?

Besides the usual aches and pains with my legs, my whole left side is screaming out right now, as I had a bad fall last week and have come out in bruises all over my body. I also have an aching jaw, that has somehow in the last week, put itself out of alignment, so my bite is not straight. This morning when I woke up I had a blister on my lip. It was not there during the night when I got up for the bathroom, but emerged in the 2 hours prior to dawn. My first thought was that it is an ant bite or something, but it is now 2:15pm and it is still there. So I am not sure what it is. If I were to meditate right now, I am sure there are other parts of me that would also demand attention, but I refuse to listen at the moment as the otehr parts are quite vocal themselves. I don’t need to find more problems.

Would you rather have a two-bedroom apartment in a big city of your choosing or a mansion in the country side in the state or country where you currently live?

Can I choose a small cottage in the country rather than a mansion. Apartments are out. I need space to move. I love a garden and with it all the wildlife and birds that it brings, but I don’t need a mansion. Although, if I had a mansion I could give room and board to people in exchange for house and garden work. OK a mansion it is, but I insist on a ground floor bedroom, with all otehr amenities accessible so I dont have to do stairs.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for people who decided my art was worthy to be hung in an exhibition this week. I put a lot of effort into the painting selected, so it validates my efforts that other people will enjoy it.

I am looking forward to continuing with my studies. This is the first week back in the University year and I am pumped!

What are you a “natural” at doing?

I am a natural at diffusing situations. I am the one that remains calm and logical when all aroucalmnd me are panicking. Funny, I have anxiety disorder but I get anxious and panicky in situations that cause others no discomfort at all.

Would you prefer a one floor house or multiple levels?

Single level only. With my legs, I despise stairs.

'Know what would be nice? A stairlift!'

‘Know what would be nice? A stairlift!’

What was your favorite subject in school?

I don’t know really, It was so long ago. I think i liked them all. I know I love all my Uni courses now, but then again, I chose them.1380691645476208260

Complete this sentence: If only the rain..

would fall in the right place at the right time. So much of our country is in drought but the major coastal areas receive deluges in the summer months. The Darling River is again dry. We have a drought on, but there is also mismanagement of irrigation allowances in big stations.

“What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?”

I am grateful that my money lasted until I got paid on Thursday. It was touch and go there for a minute. I am looking forward to volunteering at O week at Uni this week. I love to help people and I remember how daunting the first day of Uni can be.041514-sywbanner

If you had a shelf for your three most special possessions (not including photos, electronic devices and things stored on them, people or animals), what would you put on it?

The first thing I would put on my shelf is a teddy bear. This bear is dressed in a gown and mortar board and carrying a degree in his hands. I got this at my graduation from my first Uni course. I call him professor bear. He motivates me greatly.

The next thing would be a sketch book and pencil. It could be a sketch book which includes many of my previous works, or a new one which will inspire me to do more art.

The last thing would be a book. I have so many favorites that I don’t know where to start. I think it would have to be an anthology (Possibly Norton) either volume E which is 19th Century Literature of Volume F which is 20th Century. Although many anthologies of short stories and poems would be pushing to get a spot there. I have one which I truly adore called The complete stories, by David Malouf, who has become a favorite author since I had the opportunity to meet him a few years ago.

If you had a box labelled ‘happiness’, what would you put in it?

A picture of Sam, an mp3 player filled with good treble voice choir singing, or maybe make that an mp4 player which would include photos that I have taken in special places. Also a rainbow coloured garland of flowers which I have worn to the last 3 Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in Sydney.

What do you want more of in your life?

Sam, I really cant get enough. LOL, oh ok something feasible… art lessons. I cant learn enough and can always develop.

Daily Life List: What do you do on an average day? Make a list of your usual activities you do each day.

Arise, shower, breakfast, check diary over breakfast and read a story while eating. On the road to either Uni or work. Home for a nap, up for dinner, then work on my computer. The work includes sorting my schedule for the next week, checking my employment sites and applying for assignments, filling in some paperwork, or doing blogs and Uni work.

I watch very little TV. I usually watch specific programs online, while tucked in bed at the end of the day. I also play bingo online and a few slot machines before sleep. While sleeping, talk radio is on in the background, and if I am lucky, when I wake up in the night, I will wake to a general knowledge quiz at either midnight or 2 am. I prefer the midnight quiz, but the 2 am one is fine too if that’s when my bladder decides it needs to go out.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for friends who help me through the dark times, and know when to just leave me and when to encourage me to do some things. I am looking forward to O week training at Uni, I have volunteered to help out at O week.

What one thing are you really glad you did yesterday?

I’m really glad that I was able to overcome some major depression and go to Sawmillers Park in North Sydney to take some photos and sketch. (If you want to see the results, look at the last 3 posts on my blog.

Are you generally focused on today or tomorrow?

I love to be focused on today, but tomorrow requires a little planning. I am super organised with time, so unless I am having a depression day, everything is perfectly planned. I am not so spontaneous.93fba2_5b720afa87e64017bd37ffcb046a3c2d

Would you want a guardian angel/mentor? What would they tell you right now?

Suffering from a mental illness and attending University requires a good support team. I Image result for mentor greek mythologyhave a few contact people, one main lecturer that I relate to, 2 mentors and a tutor. They keep me in line and provide me with all the support and guidance I need as a high achiever. I have been a mentor in the music industry for emerging artists, and loved every minute. I was also a religious education teacher and love meeting up with people I have taught in the past and seeing how they have grown and progressed through life. It is a real honour to be a mentor.

A guardian angel would be of no use, because while they protect you from harm, which is a good thing, a guardian angel doesnt teach you a lesson or help you see how you could have done things better. My mentors would tell me to ensure I am prepared for this coming year at Uni and to regularly check my Uni email account for any announcements.

Would you rather live in a cave house or a dome house made out of glass? (photos of the houses found on google search)

A cave is my preferred house. A glass house allows everyone to see your all… no secrets. I am a sort of private person. A cave would allow me to crawl inside and shut the world out for as long as I need.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful I was able to come through the fog of depression. Another thing that happened today was that the dog where I lived died. It belonged to my housemate but I was very close to her. I am looking forward to more work this coming week, and on 10th February, being ready at my computer for class allocations for this coming years classes at Uni.

As a child, who was your favorite relative?

My Aunty Wendy. She was loopy.

If you could be a tree or plant, what would you be?

Banksia occidentalis. This Banksia is native to Australia. It’s hardy and resilient. It looks pretty, is happiest near the beach, can survive a hard time, and thrives after a trauma such as a bushfire.

What would be your preference, awake before dawn or awake before noon?

Do I have to wake before noon?

Would you like to sleep in a human size nest in a tree or be snuggled in a burrowed spot underground?

My bed is just fine. Not a nest, I cant climb a ladder. Not underground, I am a little claustrophobic. Can I have a nest in the sand dunes like the seagulls?

Do you believe in extraterrestrials or life on other planets?

Absolutely. What makes humans so special they think that they are the only life form in the whole infinite expanding universe. I also think we expect too much from those extraterrestrials. Who is to say that  they are at a level that they are able to communicate or travel intergalactially, when we ourselves havent yet developed that capacity.i_believe_in_alien_life_forms_republicans_alien_t_shirt-r79b8f58aebc54b5d87335721bf6950d6_jo7xo_1024

How many places have you lived? You can share the number of physical residences and/or the number of cities.

Only Earth. haha. Actually my living has been confined to one state… New South Wales, Australia. Primarily in Sydney.IMG_5987

If you given $22 million tax free dollars (any currency), what is the first thing you would do?

Such an exact amount. I would be able to lobby the Australian and Nauruan governments to allow a new industry on Nauru, which Australia has raped of its only export, and now uses its land for a dumping ground for refugees and people seeking asylum. Nauru is a small island nation, struggling under debt because just about everything needs to be imported. My plan would be to convert Nauru from a desolate place to an island resort. This will employ locals, to cut unemployment and the current escalating crime rate, bring the tourist dollars to the nation and further industry. I might buy myself a humble residence here in Sydney for my partner and myself.

The Never List: What are things you’ve never done? Or things you know you never will do?

It was always a dream of mine to bungee jump with the natives of the Philippines and to parachute. Given my size and medical condition, this will never happen now.10b896260a051b7509aeb3da8f6e6703
