Only when Useful

Summer brings with it thoughts of Cricket and swimming.

Trophies on the cabinet are evidence of a successful winter.

Gone are the days of freezing on the sidelines, cheering when the lad scores a goal.

Forgotten are the boots which brought such joy on the birthday, and elation as they helped bring glory to the boy.

Neglected they sit, sideways, tied together by the laces, under other old shoes in the bottom of the wardrobe.
