Weekly Photo Challenge: Endurance

These pictures are taken on Cockatoo Island in Sydney. Cockatoo Island was a place used as a convict farm and workyard in the early days of the colony. It went on to be used in the first and second world wars as a dry dock and ship yard. It was then used by private enterprise for ship building too.

These days it is a tourist destination. All the buildings have been left AS IS. with no restoration, but maintenance prevents further deterioration. There are a few restaurants and cafes around and a large camping area but largely it remains as it was left after WWII.
